First Annual General Meeting
The Club held its first Annual General Meeting at the Club Venue on the 25th January 2024.
The Minutes of the meeting can be reviewed here:
January 2024 - Visit from Brian GW6ZYI
On Thursday 18th January, the Club hosted Brian GW6ZYI who is the the RSGB region 7 (South Wales) representative.
The primary reason for Brian's visit was to assess the suitability of the club's venue to host Amateur Radio Licence exams in the near future.
We are delighted to announce that the venue meets the required criteria, permitting the club to move forward with this exciting opportunity.
Having completed his assessment, Brian (third from left) talked with Club members and provided useful information regarding best ways to deliver some proposed improvements to our club, and what assistance that both he and the RSGB could provide in taking these initiatives forward.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Brian for attending, and his ongoing support of the Club.
January 2024 - Change of Club night & times
Club Meetings have moved to Fridays and at the new time of 7-9PM - Heres why:
When the club was formed, meetings were held on Thursday evenings between
6:30 and 8:30 PM.
For site availability reasons (all of which have now been addressed) it became necessary
to move both time and date to Wednesday evenings and the earlier time of 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
However, working alongside our friends at Bath Based Distance Learning (BBDL) who run online radio licence training courses for people wanting to obtain their amateur radio licence, it was thought advantageous to both groups to return to our original Thursday slot.
As previous venue access restrictions have been mitigated, it was also decided to move meetings to between 7:00 and 9:00 PM allowing more time between returning home from work and attending the Club
January 2024 - Club Net launched on 2M Band
At a recent meeting, members of Uskside ARC agreed to establish an evening "Net" on the 2 metre band.
All amateurs are invited to join the conversation!
The Net will be held on:
145.550 (S22 / V44) each Tuesday between 19:00 and 20:00 local time.
