May 2023:
Visit to the City of Newport Model Engineering Society
On the 23rd may 2023, the club was invited by the City of Newport Model Engineering Society's open day to their premises on the Glebelands stadium complex off Bank St Newport.
Using the clubs callsign MW1USK, We made many contacts throughout the day using an Icom ic-705 portable radio into a wire antenna, alongside an Icom ic-7100 using Digital modes (via a computer) through a vertical antenna.

A very warm day permitted solar charging of our batteries, but required additional shade to keep both operators and equipment cool!

It was a warm eventful day with many visitors in attendance, and was a fantastic opportunity to promote the activities of both Clubs, and the radio hobby in 2023.
We had many enquiries from people interested in learning about Amateur radio, from general use to supporting the emergency services in times of need.
A great day out that was enjoyed by everyone involved.
